ESD Warning Tape

ESD Warning Tape is used to mark electrostatic protected areas (EPAs) and alert personnel to the presence of static-sensitive environments. It ensures that only properly grounded and trained individuals enter zones where electrostatic discharge could damage sensitive electronic components.

🔹 Key Features

  • Material: PVC or vinyl with static-dissipative or antistatic coating
  • Adhesive Type: Pressure-sensitive or rubber-based adhesive
  • Surface Resistance: Typically in the range of 10⁶ to 10⁹ ohms/sq
  • Color: Yellow with bold black “ESD” or “Caution Static Sensitive Area” text
  • Width: Common widths include 2 inch (50 mm), 3 inch (75 mm), etc.
  • Length: Usually available in rolls of 33m, 66m, or custom lengths
  • Durability: Tear-resistant, scuff-resistant, and chemical-resistant

🔹 Applications

  • Marking boundaries of ESD-protected zones (EPAs)
  • Labelling floors around static-sensitive workstations
  • Warning signage on doors, cabinets, machines, and trolleys
  • Temporary or permanent use in electronics manufacturing and repair environments

🔹 Benefits

  • Visual Warning: Clearly indicates ESD-sensitive areas to personnel
  • Easy Installation: Can be applied quickly to clean, dry surfaces
  • Non-generating: Designed not to generate static when peeled or removed
  • Long-lasting: Strong adhesion and wear resistance for high-traffic areas

🔹 Installation Tips

  1. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or oil
  2. Unroll the tape and press it firmly onto the desired surface
  3. Use a roller or hand pressure to remove air bubbles
  4. Replace or reapply when signs of lifting, wear, or fading occur

🔹 Compliance

  • ANSI/ESD S20.20 and IEC 61340-5-1 standards recommend clear marking of EPAs
